It was embedded in her soul at a very young age, infact Robin was just 11 years old, when her Philippine grandma didn’t let her go with the U.S. Army‘s helicopter, landed on the little mountain hamlet in The Philippines where they lived, to take Robin to the military base in the plain where her American father worked, to get proper treatment from a massive kidney stone infection. Robin was totally scared to separate from her mother’s world in the mountain to fly to a place unknown to her, away from dail y walks with grandma searching for herbs and swimming into mountain streams. Robin’s grandma kidnapped her from her parents, hid her in a shack and taught Robin her first life-long lesson: “Never trust the white men medicine. You don’t find any mention of that in any of the established travel guides, though as soon as you spend less than two months here, you’ll find out - as I did the very first time I came here, in 2002. A BALINESE LESSON Foto Sofi Brabant Fiorella Connie Carollo “Back to Nature” shouted Madè as soon as I went past his room on my scooter. That was his mantra, in the spring of  2007. Made was in charge of the small house I rented from his uncle during my six-month staying in Ubud. He was a 23 y.o. boy, not particularly good-looking, got a diploma in Hospitality thanks to his elder brother’s financial support. The elder brother Wayan, while working as a room-boy in his teens, met an Australian donor who paid for his schooling up to University and then Wayan paid for Made’s schooling up to his Diploma. A 28 anni si è avvicinata alla pratica del tutto in modo casuale ed è stato  amore a prima vista. Affetta da dolori cronici a causa di operazioni invasive subite nell’adolescenza, Angela cercò nello yoga un sollievo al suo dolore. Per dieci anni allieva di Iyengar,  lasciò il maestro consapevole che la  costante pratica non era riuscita a modificare la sua condizione interna, come avrebbe invece desiderato dopo tanti anni di pratica disciplinata. MIRA NAIR LA REGISTA DEL DIALOGO “IL FONDAMENTALISTA RILUTTANTE” I film sono come degli specchi che rimandano a chi li guarda le contraddizioni del mondo moderno ed è questo che mi piace fare con il mio cinema. Mary Poppins  a very Australian lady Fiorella Connie Carollo E’ un dato di fatto che molti di noi sono rimasti offuscati dalla fama del film di Walt Disney del 1964 con la bellissima Julie Andrews, e da allora abbiamo attribuito a Disney  “la paternità” del personaggio Mary Poppins. In realtà la  nanny  più famosa del mondo è il prodotto della fantasia e della penna di una signora inglese di origine australiana. Il recente film  Saving Mr Banks  riporta un pò di giustizia a Pamela L. Travers la misteriosa autrice della saga di Mary Poppins raccontata in sei libri, nell’arco di sei decadi, a partire dal 1934. Donna riservata, amava ammantarsi di mistero e tenne a lungo nascoste le sue origini e la fanciullezza in Australia. Nata Helen Lyndon Goff a Marybourough nel Queensland nel lontano 1899, il 9 agosto, si trasferì in Inghilterra a 24 anni, dopo aver tentato la fortuna come attrice di teatro shakespeariano con un certo successo. Viaggiare & raccontare Foto di Sofi Brabant Siamo tutte Oriana Fallaci ! Sono la protagonista di un’avventura partita sull’onda della solidarietà e coronata da una vera e propria legittimazione . Una storia iniziata nella primavera del 2014 quando ideai il progetto “I Reportage di Donna Reporter: diamo voce e visibilità alle donne che in Asia stanno cambiando il mondo”. La consuetudine vuole che una reporter scriva un reportage dopo che le è stato commissionato da un giornale o una rivista. Nel mio caso, i commissionari sono state una trentina di finanziatrici che, nel maggio 2014, hanno aderito alla proposta di co-produrre i miei reportage in Asia. Un po’ Oriana Fallaci un po’ Margaret Mead Ci sono tanti modi di essere una reporter, lo stile più famoso per tanto tempo è stato quello di Oriana, uno stile provocatore, acuto, abile nel tratteggiare il profilo dei suoi interlocutori attraverso immagini e dettagli, tanto da essere studiato nelle scuole di giornalism
